I'm featured on the CBS school blog

The folks who run the new CBS blog asked me to do a posting. Here it is.

The sarcastic emails from my classmates have already begun (Tim!) :)

I've been following your blog and have some questions regarding the application process to CBS. What's the best way to contact you?

Thanks!

Please post the question here anonymously. That way everyone can benefit from the discussion. Thanks.

OK. Here are my questions:

The reason I'd like to pursue an MBA is that I want to switch
careers from the technology and consulting to finance and analysis. I am interested in working with the emerging markets and developing countries – how strong is Columbia's MBA in this area?

And most importantly, in your opinion, is it too late to apply for the September semester?

Thanks!

We have an International Development Club that students can join and then participate in projects that are happening in emerging markets. Usually the projects involve a trip to the foreign country. Also, this past semester there was an 'Entrepreneurship in Africa' class that was very well received, and yes, involved travelling to Africa. It seems like we are pretty strong in this area.

I don't know about your September question - I'd ask admissions or post on the BusinessWeek blog. If the deadline has passed (I don't know if it has), then yeah, I would say you are too late :)
