This evening I decided to take a crack at the very long checklist that I'm supposed to knock out before January 3. I found out two key things from this activity:

1) You can't make alot of progress on the checklist without your Columbia network ID

and

2) I'm going to be busy :)

In reference to #2, there are three days worth of 'optional' social events during orientation. I'm planning on hitting them all and hopefully my wife will be able to join me. I want to involve her as much as possible in all of this b-school stuff. Of course, I am sure there will also be numerous other social events during orientation, but it was cool that CBS planned a few things formally.

By the way, here are the 'optional' events for those who are curious...

Ice-Skating at Bryant Park Pond- This is a delightful place to experience
ice-skating in New York City. It is seconds away from the Bryant Park
Grill.

January 5, 2007
8:00-11:00pm
Lets bowl away at New Yorks landmark Chelsea Piers Lanes.

Un-cluster Dinner is an opportunity for you to have dinner in the city on
Saturday, January 6, 2007. While Columbia Business School does not cover
the expense of this dinner or provide transportation, we do make
reservations for you to meet with your fellow peers at a local restaurant.
The point of the un-cluster dinner is so that you have the opportunity to
socialize with people who are NOT in your cluster. We realize how
important it is that you have a strong network of friends and for this
reason encourage you to meet as many people as possible. Click here to
RSVP.
